Our MLD film uses the same underlying technology as our Light Shaping Diffusers, featuring holographically recorded microstructures embedded onto a thin polyester substrate. These microstructures, invisible to the naked eye, precisely control light output and shape the beam to achieve uniform distribution.
High-Precision Wafer-Level Optics
Unlike traditional diffusers that rely on random or volume scatter, Luminit’s Micro LED Diffusers use engineered surface-relief structures for superior optical performance. This approach reduces backscatter and acts as a natural anti-reflective surface, improving overall light utilization.
With up to ~92% transmission efficiency, MLDs minimize light loss and maintain display resolution. Because internal reflection is eliminated, the MLD can be positioned directly atop the LED source, enabling space-saving designs for compact wearables. Additionally, the ultra-wide beam spread helps even the smallest light points appear larger, smoother, and more visually pleasing, ideal for high-density micro LED arrays and edge-lit displays.
